Well May is upon us and in full swing, the sun is shinning and the birds are singing.. I don't like mornings but the sound of the birds twittering away happily outside my window makes me smile as I begin another day...
May has always seemed a funny time to me, the weather is warmer yet its not quite the summer, this was always enstilled in me growing up when I was too hot to wear a vest yet mum always chanted... 'ner cast a cloud till may is out', something I find my self saying to my daugher although no one seems to wear vests anymore!
So whats in stall for May, well if its your birthday then you are either a Taurus or Gemini and your birthstone will be one of the following, Emerald, Topaz, Tourmaline or Agate...
Emerald - is a stone of inspirations and infinite patience and is known as the 'stone of successful love'. It can also help with detoxification so if you are looking for your summer body maybe carrying Emerald will help!!!!

The sun is shinning, the weather is definately warmer (I wish my feet were), the flowers are blooming and the birds are chirpping....and dare I say the bees and wasps seem a lot bigger after the long winter... April is here!

So whats happening in April, well Mothers day was yesterday 3rd April and from what I've heard seems to have been well celebrated and enjoyed by all. We also have Easter and I'm sure lots of chocolate will be eaten, but the biggest thing to happen this month is the Royal Wedding between Kate and William, it seems the UK isn't as excited about this as expected... what do you think?

So lets look at the stones for the month.. again split across Aries and Taurus the stones are Ruby, Diamond, Emerald and Topaz... all expensive stones yet very beautiful. So if you are celebrating your birthday have a great day and remember to point your other half or family members over to AnasPretties on Facebook for that special something, you never know there could be some red, white and blue creations just to be a little patriotic!

The Norfolk Wedding Fayre - 27th March 2011

I will be there on the day, only booked into it today and quite by surprise if I'm honest still it could be the beginning of something new and fantastic.... watch this space! If nothing else just imagine all those sparkly things a girls dream.....
I think the reason I'm so excited about this is that I never got to plan my own wedding the way I really wanted it, my now ex husband decided that money was too important to spend on what is meant to be the best day of your lives but hay ho, I must have been ok with it otherwise I would never have married him - sometimes I wonder why!!!!

Anyway enough of past thoughts and regrets 'By Victoria' will be here on the day helping those blushing brides make the day of their dreams come true xxx

Oh March is here, where did February go... I must have slept thru it all. Hopefully now we will be looking forward to some warmer and brighter weather?? I see many daffodils raising their heads and in some places the small tint of yellow is starting to show... oh how daffodils make me smile!
So what have we got to look forward to this March?
8th March, yummy pancake day, 17th St Patricks day, shamrock and guiness to hand, 18th Red Nose day 2011, can you remember where you were on the first Red Nose day??? Did you think it would still be happening today???

Moonstone what is Moonstone? (pic above) This stone is a a stone for new beginnings, its most powerful effect is that of calming the emotions and is extremely good for woman for PMS, conception, pregnancy, child birth and breast feeding, be aware tho at full moon as your moods and emotions could be highten so remove if you feel different.

February is here and its arrived so quickly... Many people associate February as the month of Amethyst, but depending on the date of your birth means you could choose a different stone..

1st to 18 February Aquamarine and Amethyst

19th to end Amethyst and Moonstone

Is an exciting month for one person in my house as Octavia celebrates her 11th birthday on the 4th...and she is definately an Amethyst girl.

So whats it for, its a fantastic stone to have in the home. Place a piece either side of your doors into your home, the ideas is that you and anyone else walking over the threshold will leave their negative vibes and problems outside! Its also good for pain relief, headaches and releasing tension.. wear it as jewellery and feel the restfulness Amethyst brings, brillian for meditaion...

Well what can I say, I'm excited... ooh excited. It seems to be happening, oh I do hope i've not jinxed it now. Earlier this week I was asked if I would consider making a bridesmaid tiara?? Of course I said yes. So after a conversation with Pippa I understood what she needed. It helped a bit as she sent a couple of pics of ones she had seen but wanted something from one and something from another...

So I got to planning...

And then a strange thing happened... Pippa called again, could I do a comb for a 7 year old who was also gonna be bridesmaid... well of course I would but it needed to be simple, not so fussy not so big and it was only to sit in the front of the hair.

So I got planning again....

Then could I do another comb, long story but needed to be the same as before...

Pippa is excited so excited in fact that she has spoken to anyone who listens and brilliantly last night had a call from one of her friends wanted a bespoke AnasPretties bracelet, necklace and headband plus wants to have a jewellery party and loves my stuff..... YAY could this be the beginning of something good???? Oh please please please let it beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Oh I thought I'd post the pic of the first completed tiara for Pippa.... and by the way she loves it! What more could I ask for?

Oh how wonderful and hot it is here in Norwich today, sadly it could be too hot but we shouldn't complain cos it could be raining tomorrow.... ha ha

Still I've found a bit of energy to create my newest piece, a Victorian style choker, the choker part is black fastened at the back by satin ribbon with matching tassles. The necklace part is taken from an older necklace and turned into this modern yet oldie worldie style necklace... Kind or makes me think of the vampire diaries...lol anyway you comments and opinions are greatly appreciated so tell me what you think?

Beads Direct World Cup 2010 Competition

OMG what can I say, I entered the previous design into the Beads Direct World Cup 2010 Competition and got thru to the second round. That in itself was a huge achievement for me as I've never got that far in many things I attempt...

Anyway Second round underway and again I had to create another piece of jewellery inspired by my choosen country South Africa. I looked thru books, tralled the internet for inspiration and then thought mum and dad, they have been! So we started talking and diamond mines were mentioned, table mountain, and sunsets and the colours just swam into my head.. this is the second piece. I hope you like

A couple more items completed, the one above is on the lines of my 'love hearts' set. This is called 'parma violets' and is just as tasty and sweet. Earrings to match and is available from my websites... I hope you like x x

Tangy orange and sexy black a match made, the orange stone is Carnelian and the black is Onyx all tied together with silver spacers. The bracelet is strung on stretch elastic for comfort... Looks wonderful when dressing up and dressing down....

Just a couple of new pieces which i've just made.. well not just this second but are my latest creations...

The first one is made using Snowflake obsideon and was specially created for my friends mum for Christmas (oh my god there is that word again). This is a one of a kind and will remain that way....

This next one a real girly piece... there are pearls, crystals, quartz and silver twisted and clustered to make this stunning piece.... The necklace sits long and is strung on baby pink thong. All the findings are silver...

I've been really busy, i hope you like. All are available just convo me for details. The first one is made using dyed pink mother of pearl donuts and crystals strung on thong. A very pretty and sparkly one...

This one is made using lemon jade and natural turquoise beads, on twisted wire and linked to glass beads which are a lemony brown colour...

The following pictures are all made using semi precious beads in complimenting colours and shades. Each one is strung on stretch elastic and all can be worn together or individually which is why I photographed them in colours schemes...

Elephant hunt part 2

I hosted my first PartyLite party last night at Tina's. I was very nervous but really excited too... the candles looked lovely once they were all lite and the girls thought it all amazing. Soon everyone started to arrive, I guess there was about 20 or so waiting to hear me speak...oh god, well here goes.... but everyone enjoyed got a further 2 bookings and loads of orders and future interest. A fun night I think...although I am tired so looking forward to an early night or a bit of crafting tonight x Monday was a good day, so off we set early, well when I say early I mean before lunch! Our first visit was to the forum for a map, did I say there are 53 elephants around Norwich and everyone is as different as the next. There has been a lot of work gone into these. They are going up for auction at the end of the month and I'm sure they will sell for an amazing amount of money. Norwich City FC has one in their grounds and I'm sure they will keep it.

We only managed to find about 20 or so as time was running out and little legs were getting tired but I think we found our most favourite one last. She is called Angel and was made out of broken mirrors and glass I think you will agree she is the most geogeous elephant you have every seen.

The elephants are only around until the end of August, then I think Norwich will be a very empty place.....

I have spent ages tying to make this stitch work...its called PEYOTE and is very easy but somehow it has taken me days to feel happy that i've got the hang of it. Let me know what you think?I've attached the flower to a headband and think it makes a very pretty alternative headdress for that special occasion....

Elephant hunt part 1

So today we went into town. The day was grotty and dull but school shoes needed to be purchased. So with umbrella and rain mac in hand off we went to the park and ride. Man was it busy in town and Clarkes well 'take and number and take a seat'..... 45 minutes later it was our turn. Feet were measured, my word she is a size 2 now, nearly as big as my size 4! and strangly enough the size 2's were nearly all gone but we managed to get a really pretty yet practical and sensible pair of shoes for school.

We decided to have a little walk around the city and stopped to look at the elephants... and have decided that come Monday if the weather is nice we will get the map and try and find them all. There are about 30 planted around the city all decorated by Norwich art students and some of them are really really good. We took a couple of pics today and 1 the other day.

And guess what, later today we had hail. Damn huge hail stones..... and they call this SUMMER!

Here are some new pieces which I have recently completed. I thought i'd share them with you and hope you like?

The first one is a metal disc pendant with swarvoski crystals strung on top. The whole pendant is hung on ribbon but can be changed to suit taste...

These next two bracelets are possibly my most favourite at this time, simple yet really effective chain strung on stretch cord with either lampwork or quartz charms...

These crystal wire pendants I can take no credit for... although made by me I did copy them from a magazine. It was the turquoise which attracted me to the design as this is my fav colour but of course when the blue one was made a pink one had to be done for Miss Octavia who wears it at every oppotunity...

Well the summer holiday's are in full swing and how many times have I heard 'I'M BORED!'

So without further a-do mummy got the 'fimo' and 'polymer clay' out and we both set to work making some beads and silly's. It was a really hot day so the clay didn't want to play and not many beads were made but we had a great time in between the dips in the paddling pool...

Pamper Evening in Hempnall June 2008

I was asked to do a pamper evening in Hempnall, Norfolk earlier this year by a friend of mine to help raise money for the local nursery group. I've been to Hempnall a few times and my jewellery has always received praise. This time I was due to go wearing my other hat of Nail Technician.... but they wanted me to take my jewels too but how on earth was I gonna do the nails and discuss my jewels with the budding crowds..... Help.....

MUM!!!!!!!

Oh yes thank you for Mum, what a star... so nail equipment and jewels all packed up we set off to Hempnall...

7.30 the doors opened and it was non stop, the idea was to do mini manicures in 15 minute slots. I worked from 7.45 to 10pm constantly, which triggered some new clients and mum, well bless her worked my jewellery to within an inch of their lives...

but I should have known she had a plan of her own... oh yes her cards x x

to the wonderful world of Anaspretties, I hope you enjoy. I've created this blog mainly to get some feed back, both positive and negative accepted, tho I'd rather the good only lol... Of course I don't just make jewellery, I am a mum to Octavia but also a Nail Technician, Body Shop at Home consultant and recently a Partylite Consultant, something which I am really excited about... So when do I get the time to make jewellery... easy I make time, the housework can wait and to be honest its very clean under all the dirt!

All my jewellery is made using 100% genuine semi precious stones and crystals, no glass or imitation here and if I do say so at a very reasonable price.... I do commissions too.
